부산아이파크 U18 개성고등학교가 제42회 대한축구협회장배 전국고등학교대회 8강전에서 전북현대 U18 전주영생고등학교를 만나 1:3으로 패하며 우승 도전을 위한 여정을 마무리했다.

부산은 조별예선에서 6조에 배정되어 포항스틸러스 U18(포항제철고등학교), FC안양 U18(안양공업고등학교)와 맞붙었다. 18일(화) 안양을 상대로 이재준의 득점으로 1:0 승리로 첫 경기를 마무리 한 부산은 이틀 뒤(20일) 포항과의 경기에서 1:2 패배를 했지만 1승 1패를 기록해 조 2위로 12강에 진출했다.

12강전 상대는 울산현대 U18(현대고등학교)였다. 어려운 경기가 펼쳐질 것으로 예상 됐지만 홍욱현과 이태민의 2골로 울산을 상대로 3:0 완승을 거뒀다. 전반전 이재준의 프리킥으로 인한 혼전 상황에서 홍욱현이 선제골을 뽑아냈고, 준프로 허승찬이 얻어낸 PK를 이태민이 넣으며 2:0로 전반전을 마쳤다. 후반 막판 역습 상황에서 이태민의 단독 돌파로 세 번째 득점을 성공시키며 부산은 8강에 진출해 전북과 맞붙게 되었다.

24일(월) 오전 10시 남해스포츠파크 주경기장에서 펼쳐진 8강전에서 이태민을 선두로 허승찬, 조혜성을 중앙에 세워 3-4-3으로 필드에 들어섰다. 전반 10분, 후반 16분 연이어 실점을 허용하며 2:0으로 끌려가던 부산은 후반 22분 수비수 홍욱현이 상대 골키퍼가 나와있는 것을 보고 길게 슈팅한 것이 득점으로 이어지며 역전의 불씨를 당겼다. 후반 포백으로 포메이션을 바꾸며 역전의 기회를 노렸지만 다시 실점하며 경기는 1:3으로 마무리됐다.

부산은 올해 2021 K리그 주니어 리그에서 4승 1무 1패를 기록하며 좋은 성적을 유지하고 있다. 리그 4위지만 1경기 덜 치른 상태로 1위 전북과 승점 차이가 1점밖에 나지 않는다. 이번 대회를 통해 좋은 분위기를 이어나가려고 했던 부산의 도전은 아쉽지만 8강에 머물게 되었다.

부산의 김현수 감독은 "선수단이 모두 최선을 다해준 것에 고마운 마음을 전하고 싶다. 재정비해서 남아있는 리그와 대회를 잘 준비하도록 하겠다.”라며 대회 소감을 밝혔다. 한편 부산은 다가오는 5일(토) K리그 주니어 9라운드 광주FC U18(금호고등학교)과의 경기를 앞두고 있다.

Busan U18(Kaesong High School) lost to Jeonbuk U18 in the quarter-final of The Korea Football Association National High School Tournament

- Busan beat Ulsan U18 (Hyundai High School) 3:0 in the round of 12 and advanced to the quarterfinals

Busan IPARK U18 Kaesong High School met Jeonbuk Hyundai U18 Jeonju Youngsaeng High School in the quarterfinals of the 42nd Korea Football Association National High School Tournament and finished its journey to challenge the championship by losing 1:3.

Busan was assigned to Group 6 in the group stage and faced Pohang Steelers U18 (Pohang Cheol High School) and FC Anyang U18 (Anyang High School). Busan, which finished its first game with a 1-0 victory over Anyang on the 18th (Tue), lost 1:2 against Pohang two days later (on the 20th), but Busan advanced to the round of 12 by recording 1 win and 1 loss.

The opponent of the round of 12 was Ulsan Hyundai U18 (Hyundai High School). The match was expected to be difficult because of their strong squad, but Hong Wookhyun and Lee Taemin scored two goals to lead a 3:0 victory over Ulsan. Hong Wookhyun scored the first goal starting from Lee Jaejoon's free kick in the first half, and Lee Taemin(Semi-pro) scored a PK earned by Huh Seungchan(Semi-Pro) to finish the first half 2-0. In the last minute of the second half, Lee Taemin's solo breakthrough led Busan to advance to the quarter-finals and face Jeonbuk.

At 10 a.m. on Monday, 24th, Lee Taemin, Huh Seungchan, and Cho Hyesung led the team in the center to play 3-4-3 formation in the quarter-finals at Namhae Sports Park Main Stadium. Busan conceded two goals in the first 10 minutes and 16 minutes in the second half. In the 22nd minute of the second half, defender Hong Wookhyun saw his opponent's goalkeeper come out, and his long shot led to a goal that was triggering to change the atmosphere. Busan changed their formation to a four-back in the second half and aimed for a chance to turn around, but they conceded again and the game ended at 1:3.

Busan has maintained a good performance with four wins, one draw, and one loss in the 2021 K-League Junior League. Although Busan, who didn't play one more game, is in fourth place in the league, the team has only one point difference from Jeonbuk, who is in the first place. Busan tried to continue the good atmosphere through this competition, but they stopped their journey in the quarter-finals.

Busan U18 Head Coach Hyunsoo Kim commented that "I am really grateful to our players to do their best. I will prepare more details and finish the league and rest of the competitions." Meanwhile, Busan is set to play against Gwangju FC U18 (Kumho High School) in the 9th round of the K-League Junior League on Saturday.
