K리그에 25세(만 24세)의 어린 주장이 등장했다. 주인공은 부산아이파크 U15(신라중학교) U18(개성고등학교)를 거친 유스 출신의 김진규이다.

올해 베테랑 강민수-박종우를 공동 주장으로 선임하며 팀을 안정적으로 이끌어 줄 것으로 기대를 모았던 부산은 시즌 초반 두 선수가 부상을 당하는 악재가 겹쳤다. 박종우는 2라운드 대전하나시티즌과의 경기가 끝나고 훈련 중 좌측 무릎 외측 인대가 파열되며 바로 수술을 진행했고, 약 5개월간의 긴 재활 기간이 예상된다. 강민수 또한 부상으로 인해 5월 초 팀 훈련에 복귀하며 오랜만에 10라운드 교체 명단에 이름을 올렸다.



예상치 못한 어려운 상황에서 부산의 선택은 1997년생의 김진규였다. 김진규는 2015년 고등학교 졸업과 동시에 부산에 입단해 어느덧 7년 차 선수가 됐다. 7년간 118경기를 뛰며 15득점 10도움을 기록하고 있다. 김진규는 지난 3월, 3라운드 충남아산FC와의 경기에서 처음으로 주장 완장을 차고 그라운드에 나섰다. 특히 이번 주 10일(월) 펼쳐진 대전전에서 최준의 크로스를 받아 원터치 슛으로 올해 첫 득점과 도움을 성공시키며 주장으로서 역할을 톡톡히 해냈다.

김진규는 담대하고 차분한 성격에 경기 조율이나 볼을 다루는 능력이 뛰어나 선배, 후배 가릴 것 없이 인정하고 존경하는 선수로 종종 꼽힌다. 또한 연령별 대표팀에 꾸준히 발탁되며 2020 도쿄 올림픽 출전을 목표로 하고 있다. 지난겨울 제주도에서 진행된 올림픽 대표팀 동계훈련 연습경기에서 4경기 4득점을 기록하며 작년 부상에서 완전히 회복된 모습을 입증하기도 했다.



김진규는 “갑작스럽게 주장을 맡으며 부담이 됐던 것은 사실이다. 하지만 팀이 힘들 때 당연히 도움이 되어야 한다고 생각했고 다른 선수들이 믿고 따라줘 주어진 역할을 할 수 있었다고 생각한다. 아직 많이 부족하지만 (민수, 종우)형들의 빈자리를 채울 수 있도록 최선을 다해 노력하겠다”라며 다짐을 밝혔다.

한편 부산은 16일(일) 예정이었던 충남아산과의 경기가 연기되며 23일(일) 전남드래곤즈와의 원정 경기를 앞두고 있다. 한 주의 공백이 생긴 부산은 전열을 가다듬고 훈련에 매진할 계획이다. 이후 29일(토) 16시 예정된 부천FC1995와의 홈경기는 인터파크(www.interpark.com)를 통해 20일(목) 티켓북 선예매가 가능하며 일반 예매는 21일(금)부터 예매할 수 있다.

A 24 years old, young captain appeared in the K League. Our young captain is Kim Jingyu, a player who went through Busan IPARK U15 (Shilla Middle School) and U18 (Gaesung High School).

Busan expected to lead the team by appointing veterans Kang Minsoo and Park Jongwoo as co-captain this year, but the two players were injured early in the season. After the match against Hana Citizen in the second round, Park Jongwoo got injured in the outer ligament of his left knee during training. The injury might take a long rehabilitation about five months. Kang Minsoo also returned to team training in early May due to injury and was named on the 10 round substitute list for the first time in a long time.

In this unexpected situation, Busan chose Kim Jingyu, born in 1997. Kim Jingyu joined Busan as he graduated from high school in 2015 and has been playing for 7years. He has played 118 games in seven years, recorded 15 goals and 10 assists. Kim Jingyu wore his captain armband for the first time in a match against Asan FC in March. In the Daejon Match on 10 (Mon) of May, he got cross from Jun Choi and scored by direct shooting as his first goal and assist in the season.

Kim Jingyu is often regarded as a player who is good at dribble, organized the game, and also respected by his seniors and juniors because of his bold and calm personality. He has consistently been selected for the national team and aims to participate in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. He also proved himself after return from his injury by scoring four goals in four games at the Olympic Winter Training held on Jeju Island last winter.

Kim Jingyu commented that "It's true that I felt burdened by the sudden captaincy,". However, I thought I should be helpful when the team was having a hard time, and I think I was able to play a given role because other players believed and followed me. I still need to learn a lot, but I will do my best to fill the vacancy of (Minsu and Jongwoo)."

Meanwhile, Busan set to play an away match against Jeonnam Dragons on the 23rd (Sun) as the Asan match was postponed. Busan has one week to take a rest, so the team plans to organize the team and focus on training. The home match against Bucheon FC 1995 scheduled for 16:00 on the 29th (Sat) can be pre-booked through Interpark (www.interpark.com) on the 20th (Thu), and normal booking can be booked from the 21st (Friday).
